Our History

Shannon and Jason Milan are a husband and wife team that own Milan, The style shop. They are very passionate about downtown Kalamazoo and believe in the long term vitality and success of the city they call home.

Shannon and Jason’s journey to becoming business owners started after Shannon had worked as a stylist at a couple of downtown salons, Trombley and Andrew Beth salon & spa. During these years Shannon was able to learn and thrive as a stylist, but there was always an urge for something different, something unique, to call her own. Shannon knew she had an entrepreneurial spirit and knew she had to make her dream a reality. Actually this entrepreneurial spirit is in Shannon’s family. Her Grandpa “Gus” Gesmundo founded Serafino’s party store in Richland which is still in business today and presently owned by her uncle, Jimmy Gesmundo. Shannon and Jason love owning their own business and especially love owning one in downtown Kalamazoo. “There is nothing like getting a very unique and personal experience these days, we enjoy being small and intimate, that way we can focus every ounce of our attention to giving clients the best possible service that they deserve.”

Both are passionate about what they do and take pride in the business that they have created, Shannon as the creative designer at the salon and Jason as the salon manager. In addition to managing and being creative designer Shannon and Jason enjoy participating in many downtown Kalamazoo activities.
